Salvation in pain Pain is a part of everyone's life. Everyone experiences pain and suffering on a daily basis. People understand the importance of sorrows and understand the meaning of their lives in them. Suffering becomes a sign of abundance and destination for their lives. But those who deny their usefulness waste their time in haggling. Suffering becomes a disease of life for them. For us Christians, suffering is a means of sharing in the sufferings of Jesus Christ and becoming like him. For Christ the Lord suffered for us, that we might have an abundance of life and be saved. Father Ema Noel Asia's book "Meditation on Suffering" will surely help us to understand this reality and move forward in this process and become adults. It is a matter of great joy for me that Fr Ema Noel Asia wrote this book at my request and inspired many like me to understand and share the sufferings of Jesus Christ. It is a matter of great pride and honour for me that I had the privilege of being a disciple of Father Emanuel Asi. I personally felt his yearning for the betterment of life while living with him. He has special compassion and love for the poor and deprived sections of the society. Therefore, when I heard the gospel from them on the cross in the Mother of Sorrows Parish (Kasur), I did not ask them to do so.
